Medill Social Justice Scholars

The Scholars program responds to the overwhelming desire of incoming students to explore social justice as part of their graduate education at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications. The Scholars program offers events and dialogue on social justice topics and connects students with faculty and professional mentors. Participating students also complete a variety of “social justice experiences” during their time at Medill, tailored to their specific interests.

So far, students have expressed an interest in a variety of issues including rural education, low-wage labor, reproductive rights, climate change, government transparency, LBGTQ communities and immigration.

This project launched in February 2015.
